Garter Belts: Goodbye Tacky, Hello Romance

One sure thing to give your wedding guests a few giggles is the traditional bouquet and garter toss! As well as guaranteeing a few good laughs it's also a very endearing tradition. Dating back to the 14Th century, it was believed that having a piece of the brides clothing on her wedding day would bring an unmarried person good luck in finding their future spouse and also bring on good fertility.
It was believed so strongly that the unmarried guests, both male and female, would destroy the brides gown by ripping off pieces of its fabric. Nothing too endearing about that though right!
So over time brides became wise to this and began throwing other various items to their guests to keep them from ripping at their dresses. The items that eventually became the set tradition to throw were the brides bouquet and garter belt.  The bouquet because it is perishable and she would likely dispose of it eventually anyway and her garter because she would most likely never wear it again nor hand it down to her daughter as she would her dress.
It was, and still is thought that the man and woman to catch these items will be the next to marry, some even believe that they just might marry each other.
As much as I like this tradition, each and every time I've watched a garter belt toss,  I can not help think what tacky things they are! Does anyone agree? Overly lacy, bright ribbon, fake pearls.... oh no! Not romantic at all! But let me tell you... times have changed!
Lately I have seen some very beautiful bridal garter belts, that fit just perfectly with the romantic tradition of bestowing good luck upon your single friends to find their true love and make that magical commitment of marriage
I think it's a whole new error for garter belts... So thought I'd share a few. Enjoy.

I hope to live to be 100 minus 1 day,
So I never have to be without you.

Feel graceful and bold... Feel like the delicate and powerful creature that you are, all while making him a very happy man :)Enjoy xo
